[edit] Scenario

Here we assume that you are going to teach a course of high performance computing, and looking for the resources you can use in the class. One possibility is to teach the students a set of recurring defects in HPC programming, in the hope that they can deal with them better by knowing their causes, symptoms and possible solutions.

  • Based on the data accumulated in HPCBugBase, we are developing a set of lecture materials, homeworks and programming assignments to meet the above needs. Unlike other entries, however, those artifacts are not currently made publicly available on the system, because otherwise students would have an access to the same information, which makes the artifacts useless for the class. If you are teaching a course and interested in what we have, please feel free to contact us.
  • To get an idea of what kinds of defects are covered, we recommend to view the list of defect classification schemes. There are several entries for the classification schemes.
  • Suppose you choose to view the Defect Classification Scheme (Mar 06).

[edit] Providing feedback

After the semester is over, please consider providing the feedback based on the results of the class.

  • Was the reaction from students good? Did they say the materials were useful for them?
